At the opening of this year’s edition of the Inspired by the Mountains Festival, I gave a recital in Witkiewicz Theatre in Zakopane “Fantasia on a theme of Karłowicz”. Along with Tomasz Krezymon, an outstanding pianist, composer and arranger, we presented Karłowicz songs, which are 118 years old, in the modern version sounding as if they were played on the radio. There were references to jazz, ambient music and other genres with maintaining the expressiveness and the vocal shape originally given by the outstanding composer and Tatra
mountaineer. The concert took place on the birthday of the outstanding Himalayan climber, the late Maciej Berbeka, whose patronage of the Inspired by the Mountains Festival is established as of this year.
